Our history

It all began with a shared desire among friends: Anne Mourao, Daniela Mc Vicar, and Helena Dall Pizzol.

United by their love for Brazilian culture, these women, whether by birth or by heart, felt the need to strengthen and unite the Brazilian community in Simcoe County.

Mulheres do Norte” was born, a group created with a clear purpose: to foster gatherings that would contribute to the well-being of families, promoting networks of support and local entrepreneurship.

These visionary friends understood that together they could make a difference in the lives of those around them, and thus, the seed was planted, which would grow into a movement for the Brazilian community in the region.

Expo Brasil Barrie has transformed into a nonprofit dedicated to empowering Brazilian businesses and entrepreneurs

Expo Brasil Barrie has transformed into a non-profit dedicated to empowering Brazilian businesses and entrepreneurs, providing a dynamic platform for local Brazilian entrepreneurs to showcase their offerings.

In 2024, fuelled by the event's expansion, we formalized "Expo Brasil Barrie" as a non-profit entity, with a mission to spotlight our culture and local entrepreneurs while bringing this annual celebration to the heart of Barrie and Simcoe County.
